中秋节

前缀 mid- 是「在…中间」之意，而 autumn 是「秋天」，festival 则是「节日」，按照字面上翻译，Mid-Autumn Festival 就是「中秋节」。另外，月亮可以说是中秋节的重要代表物，所以我们又可以称中秋节为 Moon Festival.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is a harvest holiday when families get together and give thanks for nature’s abundance.

中秋节是个家人团聚一起，感谢大自然带来丰收的节日。

lunar calendar

农历；阴历

lunar 是形容词，为「月亮的」之意。顾名思义，lunar calendar 指的是由月亮运行周期所制定的历法，正是我们俗称的「阴历」，也可以用来代称「农历」。

The Moon Festival is held on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar.

中秋节是在农历的八月十五号。

月饼

月饼是中秋送礼的好选择，来看一下各种口味的月饼该如何用英文表达吧：

In Chinese culture, mooncakes symbolize family reunion; people customarily offer mooncakes as gifts during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

中秋节怎么可以少了赏月呢！一家人团聚在一起，一边吃着月饼和柚子，一边欣赏高挂在夜空中的满月，真的是人生一大幸福。「赏月」可以用 admire (欣赏) ，也可以用 enjoy (享受)。

Due to the clouds and rain, we were unable to admire the moon during this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival.

因为下雨和云层太厚的关系，今年中秋节我们没能如期赏月。
